Day 86: Ladybug Glass Bead Cellphone Charm

i made this last night to send out with the goodies for the Swap-bot swap, "Welcome Spring!" in the USA Swappers group.

Ladybug Glass Bead Cellphone Charm

it's just 3 beads (2 small silver flower beads and 1 large cute ladybug glass bead), a bit of wire, a lobster clip, and the cellphone strap.

i added the lobster clip, in case she wants to use it as a zipper-pull instead of a cellphone charm.

Day 85: Scalloped Edged Butterfly Notecard & Envelope

wow, it's been a week since i last posted anything.  this really sucks.  i was at home, sick with a sinus infection, taking antibiotics and i just didn't have energy to do anything.  i could barely keep myself awake for more than a few hours at a time. it really does suck being sick.

but yay!  i'm almost better... well, at least i'm not coughing as much and i've finished my antibiotics.  and i'm back at work.  sigh...

anyways, i did make this card on Monday (my first day back at work), March 28th.  so i'm not too far behind.

i got out my Sizzix Bigz Scallop Card and Envelope dies and some really pretty paper i got from Stampin' Up... and tada!  a very simple, but elegant notecard set.

not bad for a sick person craft!

Day 83: SketchBook flies

I've fallen a bit behind this week since I've been on vacation. I'll make up a few in the next few days.

While at Universal Studios in Orlando, I saw a lot of flies flitting around while we were standing in line. I think they were attracted to the spilled sugary drinks. There were so many little flies! So I drew some for my creepy crawly today.

Day 82: SketchBook emperor scorpion

I got to hold an emperor scorpion at the Everglades safari park in Miami today. It was cute and his feet were a bit scratchy like a crabs. Here's my sketch of the big guy with his huge claws. (the wildlife show host said the bigger the claws the less poisonous they are)

Day 77: Ode to Little Dood

i'm so tired today. it was a busy week at work and i am physically and mentally drained. my creativity is now limited to what i can think up in the next 5 minutes and type out on the computer.

i was going to write a haiku again, but my husband said i could just write a poem.
so here's an Ode.  it has the rhyming scheme: "ABABCDECDE"
oh, and Little Dood is the name my husband gave "our pet" grasshopper.

Little grasshopper

Ode to Little Dood
Oh my dear, Little Dood,
It's been a weeks since our last encounter.
Where have you gone too?
i miss my friendly grasshopper.
You must have moved away from your plumeria leaf.
the tree is almost naked and now a risky place.
but i still worry that you died or got eaten.
if this were true, i would be overcome with grief!
but joyous that i got to meet you through God's grace,
and maybe i will see you again somewhere in the garden.

Day 76: Aragog from Harry Potter Lego

i'm so excited to be visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter next week, that i had to put together my Hagrid's Hut Lego set.  yay!

Hagrid's Hut Harry Potter Lego set

my favorite part was ARAGOG!  Hagrid's giant spider buddy.

Day 76: Aragog from Harry Potter Lego

did you notice that his legs are made from swords?! :) cool!

Day 76: Aragog from Harry Potter Lego
here's aragog with some of his spider friends going... hunting. :)

it didn't take very long to put together the whole Lego set.  i followed the instructions and viola!

Day 75: Crayola Model Magic Slug Family

my co-worker gave me a Crayola Model Magic Jungle Animals Craft Pack.  i've been holding on to it for a boring day like this.  at work, many days are busy and hectic, but some days... there's almost nothing to do.  so... when all the day-shift people leave it gets really quiet in the office and we can basically do anything we please.

today was CRAFTY DAY!  and me being me... i couldn't follow the instructions and use the kit to make the cute panda and monkey.  noooo... my co-worker already made those.

FlickrMaster

i used the colors and made.... a slug family!  this clay is REALLY soft so it's hard to control and mold.  but it's nice, 'cause it air dries!  so in 72 hours they will be set. :)  and i have some really funny and cute desk decorations.  i especially like the vampire slug, don't you?

Day 73: Slug Etsy Treasury List

i created my first Treasury on Etsy!

the theme of course is slugs! i've been making slugs, and dreaming about them too. yes, i had a dream about sea slugs last night. very strange. big blue nudibranchs (the size of German Shepherds) were on the wooden pirate ship i was on... why was i on a pirate ship? huh? well, i thought they were cute, but i got closer to one thinking it was friendly and it opened it's mouth like it was trying to gobble me up. it didn't have teeth and it didn't move very quickly, but it was kinda scary. anyways, here's some lovely slugs i found on Etsy!

'slow and steady' by hippofairy

i love slugs! they're small, soft and slow, but they keep going no matter the terrain. they don't have shells to protected them, but these little tough guys face difficulties with strength and determination. let's all be like a slug!

Day 72: Smiling Sculpey Banana Slug

the evolution of the slugs continues! i've figured out a new way of making slug eyes. roll balls of white, add little balls of black... place on top of the eye stalk (or whatever it's called). use a polymer clay tool and cut a cute smiley face!

Day 72: Smiling Sculpey Banana Slug
tada!

Day 72: Smiling Sculpey Banana Slug
pretty cute!

Day 72: Smiling Sculpey Banana Slug

Day 71: Banana Sculpey Slug

i'm making slugs! yesterday i made a black slug.... today i'm making a banana slug! he's a baby since it's pretty small (2-3 inches). not like the huge banana slugs i've seen here in North America!

Day 71: Banana Sculpey Slug

Day 71: Banana Sculpey Slug sorry it's blurry. my camera didn't want to focus on the little guy.

i blended some orange and yellow sculpey polymer clay to make this color.
and to make him a little different from yesterday's, i made mr. slug with a mouth and black eyes. i think he's pretty funny.

Day 71: Banana Sculpey Slug
what do you think he's saying?

Day 70: Black Sculpey Slug

i love slugs. don't know why. i think they're cute! so here's a slug i made with just black Sculpey. he's pretty life-sized.

Day 70: Black Sculpey Slug

i put him on top of the standard sized stamp pad, so you have some scale for his size.

Day 70: Black Sculpey Slug

Day 70: Black Sculpey Slug

i think i'll make a whole army of them! :)

Day 69: Handcarved Slug Rubber Stamp

the Stampin' Up Bugs & Slugs set doesn't have any slugs in it. there's a snail, but not a slug. i don't understand why they call it bugs and slugs if there are no slugs!

so... because i love slugs (but not in my salad, ewww) i carved a simple little slug stamp for myself. i sketched out what i think looks like a slug (from memory)!

Day 69: Handcarved Slug Rubber Stamp

i carved it out... and, i poked holes for the eyes, but i used a random wire and not my sharp pointy ice pick tool thingy, so it looks like it cracked the rubber instead of piercing it nicely. nevermind though, because i'll probably use little google eyes with this stamp. :)

Day 68: Butterfly Address Labels and Dragonfly Swap Cards

Still working on items for that purple swap on Swap-bot. I made some address labels and swap cards today using simple Word and my dragonfly paper punch.

I had to cover her address to protect her identity. The clip art is a random butterfly I found online.

Day 67: Three Dragonfly Sewing Pins

punched out some shrink plastic with my little dragonfly punch.  i colored the clear plastic with permanent markers in red, green and blue.  i poked a pin through the middle of the dragonfly bodies, and then i blasted the little guys with the heat gun.  they shrank!  and now i'm going to drop a dot of Diamond Glaze into the middle to secure the dragonfly decoration on the top of the pin.

Day 67: Three Dragonfly Sewing Pins
here's the punch i used and the pins in a pincushion (i made)

Day 66: Flea Haiku

okay, i'm not a poet. but i'm tired and i can't bring myself to attempt anything that requires more effort. not that poetry is easy, but i don't want to get my hands dirty and make a mess at this time of night.

here's a little poem i wrote in honor of the little "friends" that dottie gets from the cats next door.

FLEA HAIKU
my dog is itchy
because the fleas are eating
she scratches all night

Day 28: Flea haiku

my husband wanted another variation... thus the edit.

he gets crazy flea bites. i think he's allergic. or he just has sweet blood, they attack him and not me?

i even drew a little flea. see? haha... good night.
